Our nursery specializes in this exceptional plant, originally from Asia – a botanical gem that captivates with its large, exotic leaves, rapid growth, and elegant appearance.
Whether for an urban balcony, a roof terrace, or as a stylish eye-catcher in the garden – our plant brings a tropical flair to any space.
Tetrapanax papyrifer is native to China and Taiwan and grows at altitudes of up to 2,500 meters. The rice paper tree is often found on forest edges where particularly nutrient-rich soils prevail.
The rice paper plant is a spectacular shrub or small tree that reaches heights of up to 3–5 meters. With a winter hardiness of about -12°C, it is also well-suited to colder regions. Winter protection for the root zone is recommended.
For optimal growing conditions, you should provide well-drained, humus-rich soil with sufficient moisture and minimal dryness. Ideally, choose a spot with partial shade to full sun for optimal growth. In warm summers, the rice paper tree can grow up to 1.5 m annually.
